Living by our values: Softquo’s Ethical Code

Published on

The gambling and betting sector is scrutinised like few others. That pressure can either create shortcuts, or it can sharpen the sense of purpose. We choose clarity - clarity about where the lines are drawn on conflicts of interest, on the use of information, on how we compete - and the discipline to stay on the right side of them, consistently.

That’s why the Softquo Ethical Code, approved in June 2024, was created as a lasting framework to guide conduct in these situations. It applies to everyone - interns, employees, managers, directors and external collaborators - ensuring the same standards across all roles, regardless of their seniority.

Because research confirms what experience already told us: organisations that anchor themselves in ethical practice consistently outperform their peers in both reputation and long-term performance.

Our Code is grounded in practice through mandatory training, a whistleblower channel for safe reporting and clear consequences for breaches. As Forbes notes, companies with robust accountability frameworks see not only lower misconduct rates but also stronger employee engagement.

Principles that guide our people

The Code does not try to cover every possible situation. Instead, it sets out principles strong enough to hold in any context.

  • Respect and equality mean zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination and equal opportunities for all. This includes fair hiring and promotion processes, as well as a workplace where personal differences - whether of gender, race or belief - are valued, not penalised.
  • Safety and well-being are safeguarded through clear occupational health and safety measures and by encouraging work-life balance. For example, managers are expected to support flexible arrangements where possible, so professional duties never override personal health.
  • Environmental responsibility goes beyond compliance. Employees are expected to minimise waste, follow environmental regulations in their area of work and support company efforts to reduce impact, whether in offices, data centres or travel.
  • Integrity and professionalism are visible in everyday decisions: using company resources responsibly, protecting intellectual property, and ensuring financial reporting is accurate. It also means avoiding conflicts of interest - for example, disclosing any external work - and refusing gifts or hospitality that could influence judgement.

Zero tolerance & player protection

At Softquo, we take a zero-tolerance approach to bribery, corruption and fraud. This means rejecting undue influence in any form, protecting confidential information, and ensuring that all business decisions are taken independently and transparently.

Ethics also define how we engage externally - with players, partners, suppliers and regulators. Our licences with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) require rigorous compliance with anti-money laundering, consumer protection and integrity frameworks.

Beyond compliance, they reinforce our commitment to Responsible Gambling: ensuring that every product and technology is regularly checked against international player protection standards.
